Our Story

Hi! Since everyone loves a good story,  welcome to how I fell in love with Costa Rica (and the whole adventure of traveling)...

I grew up in the Chicagoland area, but my parents were so tired of the cold, so we packed up and moved to Florida when I was young. My mom {unironically} worked as a travel consultant when I was a teen, which meant I got the lucky chance to travel a bit while I was growing up.

​

In 2004, I planned my first trip to Costa Rica and... I was immediately in love. The beauty, the wildlife, the culture, the people, the food… I felt so lucky to be there, and right then, I knew I wanted to make this place my home one day.

​

So, I started researching every corner of Costa Rica, visiting as much as I could, and saving up every penny. In 2016, I bought a little home in Playa Hermosa de Jaco, and when I wasn’t there, I rented it out to other travelers. I also started planning trips for fun in 2017 and even founded a Facebook group, Costa Rica Travel Tips + Resources, which has grown into the second largest travel group dedicated to Costa Rica travel.

I couldn’t stop sharing my passion for this place with others!

Fast forward to late 2020, when I finally made the leap to live full-time in Costa Rica with my son and our two corgis in tow. I worked as a contracted agent for four years before taking the plunge and starting my own travel agency.

​

That’s how Lucky Compass Travel Design came to be—born from my love for Costa Rica, my passion for travel, and all the places I've been lucky enough to explore. With hours of research and miles of travel under my belt, I now get to share my local knowledge and help other people experience the magic of Costa Rica too.
